Two women and a living child

by Joyce Adedayo Adams on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 1:44pm

I was having a discussion with a close friend yesterday in my home and we were talking about the move of God in and amongst believers in recent times. How Pastors are fired up and have been preaching messages that touch your spirit.

She then shared something with me that was such a revelation. My friend was at her home-town for Christmas and her Pastor was preaching about the first wisdom project that Solomon was confronted with after God appeared to him in a dream. (I Kings 3:16 - 28)

These women, harlots, gave birth to boys around the same time. One baby died and the mother of this dead child took the dead child and exchanged with the living child which belonged to the other woman. The case was brought before King Solomon and by wisdom, he judged rightly and returned the living child to his mother.

Now, my friend's Pastor likened this story to our spiritual lives and how the enemy steals our dreams, joy, blessing, marriage, whatever it is, while we are asleep, ignorant of his devices and replaces with a dead one. The devil is a thief. He is a murderer from the beginning. His work is to steal, kill, and destroy. While we are sleeping, (note: not physical sleep but spiritual lethargy), the enemy takes our dreams, our jobs, our marriages, etc right from under our nose and replaces with a dead one. Now imagine a worse calamity that would have occurred if we never even recognized that an exchange has taken place. This woman woke up to feed her child and she saw that the child was dead.

HOWEVER, she LOOKED CLOSELY and said no..this is not my child. She fought to have her living child returned back to her. At times, in our lives, when the enemy steals our blessing, we either give it up, don't fight to have it back, or we internalize the problem, (the woman would have thought she killed the baby herself by rolling over it. She would have raised a cry of sorrow instead of war and mourned the death of a child that wasn't even hers in the first place!). So we blame ourselves for killing our own dreams, marriage etc, while the main culprit, the devil walks free. We don't take time to closely examine and perceive that the enemy is at work, stealing. He deceived Eve in the beginning and stole our right as commanders of the earth. In Luke 4:5-7 And the devil, taking him (Jesus) up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine". The devil got control of the world and its glory by deceiving Adam and Eve.

Dear mighty woman of valour, rise up today and refuse to take that dead child as yours! It is a new year, a new season, a new dawn and a new day. Bring your case before our righteous and just Judge, whose throne is in the Heavenlies. Demand that your living child be returned back to you today without fail. I can go on and on and draw out more spiritual principles from the story, like when the other woman also refused to give up the living child, until King Solomon introduced the Litmus test "Divide the living child into two". So the enemy will refuse at first to give it back until we use a weapon that will silence him permanently. I John 3:8 "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil." Jesus was manifested, He came in human flesh, died on the Cross of Calvary, was resurrected and has the keys of hell and death.

Be bold, be courageous, for the Word of God says in Psa 91:13 "Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet." Go on in this power of yours and take back everything that the devil has stolen from you.

Flourish as you live for Him this week!

All my love,

Joyce I.Adams
